Just as every culture has their own typical foods, Greece also has their own typical foods.
Here is a "Food Group" chart that represents the typical foods that are unique to Greece:
Vegetables - 4 servings a day (1 serving: 5-7 ounces cooked or raw-about 1 cup)
Fruit - 3 servings a day (1 serving: 4-7 ounces)
Dairy - 2 servings a day (1 serving: 1 cup of milk, 1 ounce of cheese)
Grains - 5-8 servings a day (1 serving: 1 sliced bread, 1/2 cup cooked rice pasta etc) Potatoes: 3 servings a week (1 serving: 1 cooked potato, 4-5 ounces)
Red Meat - Up to 1 serving a week (1 serving: 4-5 ounces)
White Meat - Up to 1-2 servings a week (1 serving: 4-5 ounces cooked)
Eggs - Up to 4 a week (1 serving: 1 egg)
Fish and Shellfish - 2-3 servings a week (1 serving: 5 ounces cooked)
Legumes - At least 3 servings a week (1 serving: 5-7 ounces cooked-about 1 cup)
Added Fats - 4-5 servings a day (1 serving: 1 tablespoon oil, 10-12 olives, 1 handful of nuts)
Beverages-Fluids - 8-10 cups of fluid a day (6-8 should be of water)
Alcohol - If you consume alcohol, then only take: 2 drinks a day for men and 1 drink a day for women.

There are many ways to prepare Greek food that are representative to Greece's culture.
-Ladi is Greek Olive oil and many Greek dishes are prepared with olive oil.There is one specific common dish: tomatoes stuffed with rice, sautéed okra and giant butter beans (also known as gigantes) stewed with tomato.
-Also, Stoforno literally means in the oven. So, cooking dishes in the oven. Dishes like lamb with lemon potatoes, beef in tomato sauce and lamb cooked in a clay pot are all prepared this way.
-In addition, the best example of ograten, meaning a dish covered with béchamel sauce and cheese, is the most famous Greek dish of all. Moussaka, a layered dish of beef and eggplant topped with béchamel sauce and cheese.
-Plaki, means flat or spread out, usually refers to fish arranged flat in a baking dish and baked in the oven.
Greek food has a rich history and food has also played a major role in Greek culture.
Archestratos in 320 B.C. who wrote the first Greek cookbook in history. Ancient Greek cuisine was founded on the "Mediterranean triad". Olive oil, wheat, grapes, and wine were really common trends in Greek food. Wine and olive oil have always been a central part of Greek culture and the spread of grapes and olive trees in the Mediterranean is correlated with Greek colonization.
Greek food has influenced the culture by representing Greek culture. Food symbolizes Greek culture by showing what Greeks usually eat: olive oil and wine. During family gathering and parties, Greeks usually use these ingredients to incorporate as a representation of their culture.
